Police Continue Appeal After Man Seriously Injured In Stafford Stabbing

Police are continuing to appeal for witnesses after a man was seriously injured in a stabbing in Stafford.
Staffordshire Police said the assault happened on a public footpath through Stafford Castle golf course at around 7pm on Thursday 14 May.
The victim, a man in his 60s, remains in hospital in a critical but stable condition. Specialist officers are continuing to support his family.

What police are asking for
Police are especially keen to speak to anyone who saw anything suspicious in the Castlefields area between 5pm and 8pm on Thursday 14 May.
Detectives are carrying out CCTV and house-to-house enquiries. Drones and the National Police Air Service helicopter are also being used to support the investigation.
A significant police presence remains in the area while enquiries continue.

The suspect is described as:
A man in his mid to late 20s
Potentially of Eastern European heritage
Average build
Wearing dark clothing
Police reassurance
Chief Inspector Saqib Butt, Stafford Borough local policing team commander, said police understand this is a worrying time for the community.
He said officers are doing all they can to identify and apprehend the suspect, and proactive patrols will continue locally to reassure residents.
