New Pollinator Artwork Installed At Stafford Railway Station

New artwork has been installed at Stafford Railway Station to celebrate its bee and pollinator friendly status.

The project was funded by Avanti West Coast and North Staffs Community Rail Partnership, with local community groups helping to design and create pollinator-themed artwork for the station. ProteanART says the project was created to involve the local community, engage passengers and highlight Stafford Station’s pollinator friendly status.

One of the new pieces has been installed on the bridge level, near the top of the Platform 1 stairs. It was created by Stafford-based artists Debbie and John Todd from ProteanART and uses recycled drink cans to create a colourful artwork filled with flowers and pollinators.

There is also spray paint artwork on the bridge level by local artist Tom Edwards, known as TomEdwards.art. North Staffs Community Rail said the new artwork came from an Avanti-funded project that involved local community groups in designing and creating the pieces.

The artwork links to wider work at Stafford Station to make it more welcoming for wildlife. Staffordshire Wildlife Trust has also worked with CrossCountry Trains and Avanti West Coast on pollinator-friendly planters for platforms 3 and 4, with volunteers helping to build, move and fill the planters.

North Staffs Community Rail thanked everyone who took part in the workshops, along with ProteanART, Tom Edwards Art and Avanti West Coast for supporting and funding the project.

They are also encouraging people to take photos with the artwork when they are next at the station.
