Stafford Businesses Awarded Five-Star Food Hygiene Ratings After April Inspections

A number of Stafford businesses have received five-star food hygiene ratings following inspections carried out in April 2026.


The list includes cafés, pubs, takeaways, schools, care settings, shops, nurseries and visitor attractions across Stafford and nearby villages.

A five-star rating is the highest score given under the Food Standards Agency food hygiene rating scheme. The FSA says the rating shows how seriously a business takes food hygiene standards, but it is not a guide to food quality.


The businesses listed below were included in the April 2026 inspection information provided to The Staffordshire Spotter.


Cafés, restaurants and food spots

Several well-known local food businesses received a five-star rating, including:

  • Little Red Fox Play Cafe Ltd, Gaolgate Street

  • Tina’s Family Bakery, County Hospital

  • Asda Living, Queensville Retail Park

  • Cafe Paps, Sidney Avenue

  • French & Byrne, St Marys Grove

  • The Soup Kitchen, Church Lane

  • Oakedge Cafe, Shugborough

  • Mansion House Tea Room + Park Farm Cafe, Shugborough

  • Gez’s Cafe, Sturbridge

  • Alberts Cafe, Victoria Park

  • Hearts and Flowers, Stafford Crematorium

  • Deans Park Court, Castlefields


Other catering businesses on the list include Sylheti Flavour on Common Road, Stafford Castle Golf Club on Newport Road, and Jenkinson Caterers on St Albans Road.


Pubs, bars and hotels

The list also includes several pubs, bars and hospitality venues:

  • The Swan Hotel, Greengate Street

  • Stafford Tenpin, Greyfriars Place

  • Bird In Hand, Mill Street

  • Milford Hall Cricket Club, Milford

  • The Hollybush Inn, Salt

  • The Royal Oak, Church Eaton


Shops, retailers and local producers

Five-star ratings were also listed for several food retailers and producers, including:

  • The Wright Family Dairy, Tixall

  • Canalside Farm Shop, Great Haywood

  • M + K Mottershead Ltd, Weeping Cross

  • Mercia Whisky Company Ltd, Bishton Hall

  • Mallard Catering Ltd, Astonfields

  • Nine Catering, Astonfields

  • Lou Lou’s Bakehouse

  • CakesInTheName


Schools, nurseries and care settings

A number of schools, nurseries and care settings were also included.

These include Katharine House Hospice, Limewood Nursing Home, Little Impressions Day Nursery, Community Cafe at Holmcroft Youth and Community Centre, and Shoemaker Place.
