Man Arrested After Suspected Stolen Car Collision On M6 In Staffordshire

A man has been arrested after a suspected stolen car was involved in a collision on the M6 in Staffordshire this morning.

Stafford Borough Police said officers were contacted by West Midlands Police at around 4.50am on Thursday 14 May after reports of a suspicious vehicle.
Police said a car had been stolen in West Bromwich by two men, reportedly with a machete. The owner of the car was not injured in the robbery.
What happened on the M6?
Staffordshire officers later spotted a blue Audi S3 on the M6 northbound between junctions 12 and 13.
The car was then involved in a collision with a HGV near Stafford Services.
Police said two men made off from the scene on foot.
The incident caused long delays for drivers, with disruption reported for several hours. The main incident happened around the Stafford section of the M6, between junctions 14 and 15, with the motorway eventually reopening at around 10.30am following police enquiries.
There was also a separate incident between junctions 13 and 14, which caused further delays for motorists.
Man arrested
Stafford Borough Police said a man was arrested by West Midlands Police following the incident.
Further details are expected to be released by police in due course.
Drivers who were caught in the delays this morning were advised to allow extra time, with traffic building around the affected stretch of motorway and nearby routes.
