Staffordshire Wildlife Trust is holding two information events at Doxey Marshes in Stafford to explain planned conservation work due to take place this summer.
The events will give local people the chance to hear more about the plans, see the areas where work is proposed, and ask questions directly to the team.

The sessions will take place on Thursday 14 May at:
12pm to 1pm
6pm to 7pm
Both sessions will start from Wootton Drive car park, Stafford, ST16 1PU.

If the event is fully booked, people are asked to join the waiting list. Staffordshire Wildlife Trust says more events may be added if there is lots of interest.
What is the work about?
Staffordshire Wildlife Trust says the planned work is designed to improve the river environment for wildlife at Doxey Marshes.
The conservation plans aim to:
Restore more natural river processes
Improve habitats for wildlife
Increase flood resilience
Improve access to nature for the local community
The work is being funded by the Environment Agency.
What will happen at the events?
Each information session will include:
A short guided site walk
An overview of the proposed river restoration plans
Time to ask questions
A chance to share feedback with the team
The event is aimed at local residents, landowners and anyone interested in the future of the River Trent at Doxey.
How does this link to the planning application?
The information event relates to recent plans for conservation work at Doxey and Tillington Marshes.
A Lawful Development Certificate application was submitted for work including:
Removal of artificial embankments
Scrapes and ditch reprofiling
Spoil generated being put into the lakes
Installation of a boardwalk
The application reference is 26/41900/LDCPP.
It was received on Friday 20 February 2026, validated on Wednesday 4 March 2026, and allowed on Monday 30 March 2026.
This means the works listed in the application have been allowed under that certificate. The Staffordshire Wildlife Trust information events should give local people a chance to hear more about the planned work, ask questions and see the areas involved.
Accessibility information
The site walk will be short and taken at an easy pace, with regular stops.
However, people should be aware that:
The walk will be on uneven ground

Staffordshire Wildlife Trust asks people with specific access needs to contact them in advance so they can try to support the visit.
