A Stafford pub’s fundraising campaign for a defibrillator has received a £300 donation from the Rotary Club of Stafford Castle.
The Bird in Hand, based at 1 Victoria Square in Stafford town centre, launched the fundraiser after a medical incident at the pub in April.

In a Facebook post on 24 April 2026, the pub said its next big fundraiser would be to install a defibrillator at the premises. The post said the medical issue had shown why the equipment was needed.
The Rotary Club of Stafford Castle has now donated £300 towards the appeal.
A defibrillator can be used when someone is in cardiac arrest. It gives a controlled electric shock to the heart and can increase the chance of survival when used quickly.
The amount the pub is aiming to raise has not been confirmed. People who want to support the fundraiser are advised to contact The Bird in Hand directly.
The donation comes as another community defibrillator campaign is also taking place in Stafford.
A separate appeal is raising money for a defibrillator at Charnley Road shops. Organisers said the local area around the shops and park would benefit from having a defibrillator that is accessible to the community.
The Charnley Road campaign is being run through AEDdonate and has a target of £1,999. AEDdonate says it helps communities with the funding, installation, registration and maintenance of defibrillators.
Organisers of the Charnley Road appeal have also said they are training for a Snowdon hike, which they hope will take place in July, to support the fundraising effort.
